Dive right in
Just take the leap of faith.
Sometimes you can only research so much and then you just gotta jump in.
Just go for it. Dive right in. Let go.
Sitting around micromanaging it all is just prolonging the inevitable - or everything that must happen.
Labor is a chemical reaction.
And your emotional and mental state can be affected by, and simultaneously have an effect on, the chemistry in your body.
Worry, stress, anxiety, fear, anger - they all release cortisol, catecholamines, and adrenaline into the body and these can have a negative effect on the uterine muscles.
Allowing yourself to "just go for it" might just send a cue to your brain that it's now safe, that you're now ready. That cue will stimulate a feeling of excitement and love and happiness.
And now -
Herrrre comes the oxytocin, which is what the uppermost part of the uterus needs to really labor in the beginning.
But all that adrenaline, et al. is only tightening the lower portion of the uterus, which is keeping the baby IN.
Let go! Go for it!
That baby's comin out one way or the other. You can consciously participate in making it just a little bit easier by simply allowing it.
